OpEd on oil shale in Colorado

GJSentinel has an OpEd piece titled “Love the drill, if just to pay the gas bill.” The author speaks about the U.S. residents’ lack of desire for hybrid cars and their continued love of gas guzzlers. As someone who previously owned a gas-guzzling Land Rover, I can attest that I miss my big truck. I sold it because of high maitenance costs and fuel costs, but the day will come again when I return to the commanding view, towing strength and offroad capability of the Land Rovers.
Oil shale holds some great possibilities for Colorado residents and the nation as a whole — as better refining techniques are coming to light lately, the entire region could experience the biggest oil rush in its history. Recent attempts over the last 70 years to capitalize on oil shale have failed, but more and more research is being spent by the large oil companies in finding ways to retrieve what could be the largest oil deposit in world history.
